Wayne State women add transfer

Wayne State has announced that sophomore forward Emily Berzins has transferred to WSU from Mercyhurst College.

"We are excited to have Emily come to our team," said WSU head coach Jim Fetter. "She has played on a winning team and we will look to her to bring that experience here to Wayne State."

Berzins played in all 37 games for Mercyhurst in 2005-06 recording two assists and a plus/minus rating of +3. She had assists in back-to-back games (Dec. 9-10) at Robert Morris.

Both Mercyhurst and Wayne State play in the College Hockey America conference.

Ebbett signs one-year deal with Sens

Andrew Ebbett, Michigan's captain last year, has signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators.

The 23-year-old Vernon, B.C., native finished second in team scoring with career highs in goals (14) and points (42) in 41 games.

In all, Ebbett tallied career totals of 38 goals, 105 assists and 131 penalty minutes in 166 games played, finishing 14th on Michigan's all-time forward assists list and tied for eighth in games played.

Ebbett was one of three seniors last season along with forwards Morgan Ward and Brandon Kaleniecki and goaltender Noah Ruden.
