Former LSSU star takes CHL honors

Former Lake Superior State star Joe Blaznek (1994-1998) recorded seven multiple point outings for the Wichita Thunder and was named the Central Hockey League's Player of the Month for January. His top performances came in back-to-back contests at New Mexico Jan. 14-15 when he totaled six goals and five assists, and on Jan. 27 with a hat trick and an assist in a 6-2 win over Corpus Christi.

After scoring just twice in the Thunder’s first 18 games, Blaznek, an Allen Park native, has emerged as a dangerous weapon along with All-Star teammates Jason Duda and Travis Clayton (ranked first and second in the CHL scoring race), racking up 24 goals and 22 assists in his last 23 contests.
