ACHA Weekend Round-Up, Jan. 31

Oakland puts two touchdowns on board vs. GVSU

By Matt Mackinder

Oakland University finally started to get back on track by netting 14 goals against a much-improved Grand Valley State team Friday night at the Onyx. It was all OU from the drop of the puck, scoring five first-period goals and eight before the Lakers could get on the board.

"It was great to get all the lines scoring,” OU head coach Sean Hogan said. “When that happens we are a very difficult team to beat.”

Will McMahon (three goals, two assists), Brent Cooper (two goals, three assists), Jonah Rogowski (three goals), Jordan Ingram (two goals, assist), T.J. Schaeffler (goal, two assists), captain Brandon Lipari (goal, assist) and John Parrish all scored in the 14-2 romp. Other notables were J.P. Ferrari with four assists and B.J. Belliotti who dished out two helpers.

Andrew Hansen started in net for the Grizzlies and turned away 25 Laker scoring chances.

Next up – OU will travel to Leamington, Ontario, to play in the St Clair College Tournament on Feb. 11. Oakland will play St. Clair, Davenport or Michigan State in Round 1 on Saturday and play in either the gold medal game with a win or the bronze game with a loss on Sunday.
