Michigan players honored by ACHA


The ACHA has released the 2005-2006 ACHA All-American teams. Will McMahon of Oakland won the ACHA D-II player of the year for the third straight season and was also named First Team All-American. McMahon finished the year with a national championship and 116 points in 40 games. Davenport University finished with two players on the All-American Team with senior defensemen Peter Bortinion being named to the First Team and Adam Thomas being named to the Second Team. Bortinion finished with 25 points in 28 games and Thomas finished with 59 points in 28 games as well.

Within the Central Region, Michigan goaltenders swept the award column. Justin Sands of Michigan State University was named All-Region First Team, Chris Moore (pictured) of Grand Valley State University was named to the Second Team and Chris Joswiak of Oakland was named to the Third Team.

Also appearing on the All-Region 2nd Team was J.J. Price of Davenport, Scott Anderson of MSU and Brandon Lipari of Oakland. Lipari was named MVP of the National Championship as well. Finally, Dale Swims of Oakland and Craig Lipair of Central Michigan University were named to the All-Region Third Team.
