Oakland's McMahon named D-II's best

Oakland University senior forward Will McMahon earned his third straight ACHA DII Player of the Year award earlier this week in a season where he recorded 116 points (74g, 42a) in 40 games and capped it off with a National Championship.

"I am very excited to receive this award for the third time," said McMahon, a Sterling Heights native. "I am also pleased that the award came during another National Championship season."

"He is a great player and keeps getting better," added OU head coach Sean Hogan. "This is really quite an accomplishment considering everyone around the ACHA knows who he is and has a game plan to stop him."

McMahon will have one season left of ACHA eligibility as the Grizzlies will be stepping up to the ACHA DI ranks this coming year. Oakland opens up their 2006-2007 campaign on Sept. 22 with a home date against University of Michigan-Dearborn.
