Bulldogs sweep away Mercyhurst

After getting swept opening weekend by Union, Ferris State returned home last weekend and swept aside Mercyhurst.

Friday night, Eric Vesely scored twice and Chris Zarb pitched in with three assists as Ferris State beat the Lakers, 7-1. Zac Pearson, Aaron Lewicki, Cody Chupp, Casey Haines and Brendan Connolly also scored to back Mitch O'Keefe's 23 saves in goal.

J.T. Dahlinger added two assists in the win.

Jim Jorgensen's unassisted goal with 5:42 to play Saturday proved to be the game-winner as FSU edged Mercyhurst, 5-4. Connolly, Dahlinger, Pearson and Blair Riley recorded goals for Ferris State as well, and O'Keefe kicked out 16 shots for his second straight win.

The Bulldogs play a home-and-home series with Western Michigan this weekend starting Friday night in Kalamazoo.
