Oakland upends Buffalo Friday night

Oakland University never trailed in a 4-2 victory over the University at Buffalo Bulls Friday night.

Will McMahon (shorthanded) and Kyle DeMaggio led the Grizzlies with a goal and an assist each. Brent Cooper and Scott Kalinowski turned in the other two goals for the Grizzlies, who improved to 6-2-1 and are unbeaten in their last five. Freshman goaltender Collin Chase turned aside 25 Bulls' shots.

"We are progressing every week and getting better each game," stated head coach Sean Hogan. "The key is to take it one game at a time and focus on improving."

"Every game we are trying to eliminate mistakes until we are playing our best hockey at the end of the year," commented assistant coach Jeremy Bachusz. "I like the direction we are heading."

The Grizzlies will travel to Ames, Iowa, to take on No. 5 Iowa State University in two games this weekend. It will be the first matchup between the two teams.

News and Notes: McMahon scored a shorthanded goal for the scond straight game...Oakland University is currently ranked No. 10 in the most recent ACHA Division I poll. The top 16 teams at the end of the season will compete in the National Tournament in Youngstown, Ohio.
