Wildcats and Spencer Dillon part ways

Defenseman Spencer Dillon, who has not played a game since December 8, is no longer a Northern Michigan Wildcat. According to coach Walt Kyle, Dillon and the team parted ways after a "simple violation of team rules."

Dillon, a Florida Panthers 2004 draft pick, had picked up just one assist in 15 games during the 2006-07 campaign. The sophomore has only a pair of assists in 21 career games at NMU and looks to not be a major loss at this point. It was anticipated, however, that he would step up and help to anchor the Wildcat defense this season.

"We have a set of values and standards here and if you step outside those lines, there will be consequences," Kyle said. "Spencer may, at some point, return, but right now he is facing the consequences for his actions."
