The 2008 NHL Prospects Tournament concluded at the Center Ice Arena in Traverse City last night with the Dallas Stars winning the gold medal game, 8-3, over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Former Michigan Tech Husky Tyler Shelast scored two goals and an assist for the Stars. Former Northern Michigan Wildcat Matt Siddall did not score, but put up three shots on goals and finished even in plus/minus for the Thrashers.

The Detroit Red Wings and former Michigan State Spartan Justin Abdelkader (pictured) fell to the Minnesota Wild, 3-2, in a shootout in the bronze medal game.

Abdelkader was shut out in the finale and finished with one goal in the five-day tournament.

Former Michigan Wolverine Kevin Quick was a minus-2 with two penalty minutes as his Tampa Bay Lightning team fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 6-5, in a shootout and finished in eighth place.

The Red Wings' main training camp starts Saturday in Traverse City.
