The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that sophomore forward Aaron Palushaj of Michigan has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for October.
Palushaj, a 19-year-old from Northville, led the Wolverines in scoring with six goals in October to tie for the CCHA lead with teammate Louie Caporusso. He recorded a point in six of seven games, including multiple points on four occasions. The Wolverines have scored 24 goals as a team with Palushaj being involved in 50 percent of the scoring. Overall, the sophomore is third in the nation with 12 points, has a shooting percentage of .353 and five of his six goals have come at even strength.
The 6-foot, 185-pound forward had a career-high four points (1-3-4) against Northern Michigan on Oct. 18. Palushaj’s three assists in the game tied a personal best from his rookie campaign. He has also matched a personal best in goals twice this year, scoring two against St. Lawrence (pictured above) on Oct. 11 and versus Niagara on Oct 23.
Special mention for RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month honors goes to Alaska junior forward Dion Knelsen, Bowling Green sophomore forward Dan Sexton, Ferris State sophomore defenseman Zach Redmond, Lake Superior State junior forward Zac MacVoy, Miami sophomore forward Carter Camper, Michigan State senior goaltender Jeff Lerg, Nebraska-Omaha senior forward Dan Charleston, Notre Dame sophomore defenseman Ian Cole (Ann Arbor), Ohio State sophomore forward John Albert and Western Michigan junior forward Chris Clackson.
