RedHawks soar over Lakers

By Michael David/Lake Superior State Beat Writer

The Lake Superior State Lakers were swept for the second week in a row, dropping a pair to the highly-ranked Miami Redhawks. They lost a tough 2-1 decision on Friday before being shutout for the first time this season, 4-0, on Saturday.

Friday night, Miami jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The Lakers battled back, cutting the lead in half when Dillin Stonehouse found the back of the net with a shot from the point. Josh Sim and Dan Barczuk earned the assists.

The one-goal lead stood the rest of the game, while Pat Inglis made 27 saves in net for Lake State (9-15-8, 6-12-6-1 CCHA). The game gave the fans lots of back-and-forth action, but neither team could score in the remaining two periods.

Saturday night, the Redhawks went 2-for-8 on the power play to give the Lakers their first shutout loss of the season.

Inglis was in net again for the Lakers, stopping 33 shots in the losing effort.

The Lakers host Western Michigan next weekend, which will be the last home games for the LSSU senior class.
