NMU coach Kyle walking for cancer

Compiled by MiCHO Staff

Northern Michigan University head coach Walt Kyle, along with River Valley Bank, are partnering to present the second annual River Valley Bank-Walt Kyle Mile Cancer Walk on Saturday, Aug. 29.

The walk will begin at the bank’s 1140 West Washington St. branch office at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the walk will go to help sponsor cancer patients living at the Beacon House during their treatments. Last year’s event drew over 200 people and raised almost $7,000.

Kyle is a two-time cancer survivor. According to Kyle, it takes internal determination, a great team of medical staff and the support of a community to help patients successfully make it through cancer treatment.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. The group will begin walking from the bank and follow Washington St. down to the lake and back for a distance of approximately three miles.

Participants 16 and under who donate $10 or more will receive the official Walt Kyle Mile t-shirt. Adults who donate $20 or more will receive the official t-shirt. Kyle will be joining the group for the walk and will be available after for a meet and greet. Subway sandwiches will also be served.

For more information about the walk and to register, visit the website or contact Stacy Chantelois at 906-226-0293 or e-mail her at schantelois@rivervalleybank.com.
