Western Michigan’s winless streak continued after two losses to Nebraska-Omaha over the weekend. WMU now hasn’t won since Nov. 7 (a 2-1 victory over Lake Superior State).
In the opener against UNO, Western Michigan trailed 3-0 early in the first period, but fought back and eventually evened up the score with less than five minutes to go in the contest.
UNO’s Alex Hudson, who had scored one goal coming into the game, netted his second of the night just 18 seconds after WMU had tied it.
Derek Roehl, Chris Clackson and J.J. Crew scored for the Broncos and Riley Gill stopped 33 shots. Jeremie Dupont turned aside 17 shots in two periods of work for Nebraska-Omaha. John Faulkner made six third-period saves for the victory.
The second game wasn’t much kinder to the Broncos, who overcame two one-goal deficits before surrendering back-to-back third-period markers in the 4-2 defeat.
Cam Watson and Ian Slater scored for WMU. Jerry Kuhn made 25 stops for Western Michigan. Faulkner was rarely tested and finished with eight saves.
The Broncos (5-7-2, 1-7-2-1 CCHA) return home to play Alaska-Fairbanks Dec. 6 and 7. Both games start at 7:35 p.m.
