The Central Collegiate Hockey Association today announced that senior forward Ray Kaunisto of Northern Michigan University has been suspended for one game as the result of an incident that occurred in a game at Lake Superior State on Dec. 11.
The supplemental disciplinary action was taken by the CCHA after a review of the incident that occurred near the 13:40 mark of the third period. The league deemed the incident to be a blindside hit to the head/neck area of a Lake Superior State player.
Kaunisto will be required to serve this suspension during Northern Michigan’s next game, Dec. 18, against Michigan Tech. He is eligible to return to the lineup on Jan. 2.
