Michigan drops regular season finale

By Matt Mackinder/Michigan Beat Writer

Michigan started out strong during Saturday night's game at Notre Dame, but a 2-0 lead went for naught as the Irish rallied for a 5-3 win to wrap up both team's regular seasons.

With the loss, Michigan finishes in seventh place in the CCHA standings and will host 10th-place Lake Superior State in the first round of the CCHA tournament starting next weekend at Yost Ice Arena. The best-of-three series will run from Friday-Sunday.

Saturday night, Louie Caporusso scored twice and Shawn Hunwick made 20 saves in his first collegiate start and fourth career appearance.

David Wohlberg also tallied for the Wolverines, who finish 19-17-1 overall and 14-13-1-0 in league play.
