The Green Bay Gamblers announced that forward Ryan Furne has committed to Michigan Tech University and will attend the school following his USHL career.
Furne ranks third on the Gamblers in scoring with 33 points (16g, 17a) while registering a plus-23 rating playing in all 41 games this season. Over his last 10 games, the native of Oakdale, Minn., has recorded 11 points (6g, 5a) and a plus-13 rating.
The 20-year-old was selected to play in the 2010 USHL All-Star Game and dished out one assist in the contest. Furne is playing in his second USHL season after scoring 46 points (22g, 24a) in 59 games for the Gamblers during the 2008-09 campaign. In 100 career USHL games, he has tallied 79 points (38g, 41a) and a plus-42 rating. He has also posted eight points (4g, 4a) in seven playoff games.
Furne will be joined at Michigan Tech by current Gamblers teammate Patrick McCadden, who committed to the school last month. Two other current USHL players are committed to Michigan Tech - Waterloo Black Hawks defenseman Dan Sova and Sioux Falls Stampede forward Jacob Johnstone.
