Ex-WSU d-man Caister signs ECHL deal

The South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL announced yesterday that the team has signed former Wayne State defenseman Jeff Caister.

Caister, 25, skated in 42 games with St. Lawrence this season, scoring 18 points (6g, 12a). In two seasons with the Saints, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman dressed in 79 games contributing eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points.

Caister began his college career at Wayne State University, competing in 73 contests from 2006-2008 and tallied 47 points (5g, 42a) before transferring to St. Lawrence in 2008 when WSU's program folded. Caister was an assistant captain his sophomore season with the Warriors.
