Michigan connections aplenty at Worlds

Compiled by MiCHO Staff

USA Hockey announced its full 23-man roster for the 2010 IIHF World Men's Championship scheduled for next month in Germany, and Team USA is chock-full of Michigan connections.

Defensemen Andy Greene (Trenton/New Jersey Devils) and Matt Greene (Grand Ledge/Los Angeles Kings) join former Michigan blueliner Jack Johnson on the back end.

Up front, Tim Kennedy (Michigan State/Buffalo Sabres), David Moss (Michigan/Calgary Flames) and Eric Nystrom (Michigan/Calgary Flames) make up the in-state contingent.

Team USA opens the tournament against host Germany on May 7. The game will be played at Gelsenkirchen's VELTINS-Arena, home of the German soccer league's FC Schalke. The contest is expected to be played in front of a world record crowd of more than 76,000 spectators.
