The 19th-ranked Western Michigan Broncos continued their strong play, splitting with the No. 5 Miami RedHawks at the Lawson Ice Arena over the weekend.

Senior Max Campbell picked up the game-winner goal at 13:57 of the third period to cap a career-high, four-point night as the Broncos (7-4-3, 3-3-2-1 CCHA) upended the RedHawks, 5-2, on Friday night.

Ian Slater scored a pair and Trevor Elias and Greg Squires also scored as the Bronocos won their third straight game in Kalamazoo.

Andy Miele and Max Cook scored for Miami.

Nick Pisellini stopped 17 shots between the pipes for WMU and Cody Reichard turned away 21 for Miami.

Saturday's Military Appreciation Night didn't go as planned, though, as the RedHawks turned the tables with a 5-1 win.

Danny DeKeyser got the Broncs on the board first with a power-play goal at 9:00 of the first period.

Miami responded with goals by Matt Tomassoni, Reilly Smith, Miele and two by Justin Vaive to take the victory.

Pisellini stopped 37 shots in the WMU net. Connor Knapp got the start for Miami and fought off 25 of 26 shots.

Western will hit the road next weekend to battle the Northern Michigan Wildcats in Marquette.
