Spartans downed by Tigers at GLI

Colorado College scored three times in the second period and Michigan State never recovered as the Tigers took a 5-4 win over MSU Wednesday afternoon in the first semifinal of the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

Freshman Lee Reimer scored his first NCAA goal and added two assists, while Dustin Gazley had a goal and an assist and Derek Grant two helpers for the Spartans.

Daultan Leveille and Brock Shelgren also scored for MSU, while Drew Palmisano and Will Yanakeff combined for 18 saves. Palmisano started and was pulled after CC's fifth goal.

MSU (6-10-3) will play Michigan Tech in the third place game this afternoon at 4 p.m. Colorado College and Michigan will play for the GLI title at 7:35 p.m.
