Yikes! Huskies' streak climbs to 22

By Andy Bourdeau/Michigan Tech Beat Writer

Michigan Tech (3-20-3, 1-16-1 WCHA) played much better hockey over the weekend than it has in the past three months, but it was not good enough as the No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers were able to get the road sweep by scores of 4-2 and 4-1.

The Huskies, now winless in their last 22 games, were able to get on the scoreboard against the badgers. Alex MacLeod and Evan Witt scored on Friday night and Ryan Furne notched the Huskies' only goal on Saturday.

Both Josh Robinson and Kevin Genoe played net on Friday, Robinson with the start, and Genoe played the entire game Saturday.

"Tonight (Saturday) we were really thin on the back end, with two guys out," Michigan Tech coach Jamie Russell said. "I thought the guys that came in struggled. We got beat on one-on-ones and it ended up with two goals in the back of our net. We're playing Deron Cousens and Steven Seigo just way too many minutes."

The Huskies pack their bags and head off the Alaska for a two game series with Alaska-Anchorage next weekend, where MTU hopes to end this dreadful winless streak.
