Michigan State blanked Ohio State on Thursday night, but couldn't finish the job Friday night and settled for a CCHA split with the Buckeyes.
In the series opener at Munn Ice Arena, Drew Palmisano threw a 29-save shutout for the Spartans, while Anthony Hayes, Trevor Nill and captain Torey Krug scored in the 3-0 win.
Friday night, OSU rebounded with a 5-2 win over MSU.
Kevin Walrod had both goals for Michigan State and Palmisano finished with 28 saves.
The Spartans (2-4-0, 1-3-0 CCHA) host Robert Morris next weekend.
