What's Up in Houghton: Coming from a winning program, Pearson looks to bring the winning mindset to Tech. Excitement is high in the community with the new coaching staff. An improvement is needed from four wins last year. With five homes games starting the season off, the home crowd has a good chance to see the new-look Huskies and hopefully get a few wins.

He Said It: "We want to open up the play of our forwards and let them be creative. I have challenged the team to be the top scoring team in the country." - Pearson

"Yes and Yes." - Muckalt, when asked if he played against Shields in the NHL and if he scored on him.

I'm impressed with Tech's commitment to the program, and they went out on got a coach and coaching staff that will bring in a winning attitude. I think the Huskies could be one of the top teams in the new-look WCHA in a few years. I wish that LSSU would make the same commitment to its program as some of the other state schools are.
