Lake Superior State Lakers' netminder Kevin Kapalka has been named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week for his performance against the Northern Michigan Wildcats over the weekend.
In Friday night's 2-1 loss, Kapalka stopped 17 of 19 shots, and in Saturday's win, he made a season-high 44 saves. He also made some key saves when the Lakers were a man down late in the game, and NMU pulled their goalie for the extra attacker.
The Mississauga, Ont., native is now 10-6-2 on the season, ranked sixth in the CCHA in save percentage (.917), and ninth in goals-against average (2.42).
