Michigan announced recently the team captains for the 2012-13 season, naming forward A.J. Treais as captain and defensemen Lee Moffie and Mac Bennett as alternate captains.
Treais was named the 83rd captain in Michigan hockey history after posting 32 points (15g, 17a) in 40 games during his junior season. The 5-foor-8, 178-pound forward set new career highs in points, goals, assists, plus/minus rating (plus-24), power-play goals (3) and game winning goals (4). He earned points in a career-high eight straight games (7g, 5a) from Jan. 21-Feb. 24, was named the CCHA Postgame® Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 20 and was named to the Great Lakes Invitational All-Tournament team after helping Michigan to the crown.
Moffie recorded 32 points (7g, 25a) in 41 games as a junior, setting new career marks in points, goals and assists. He led the team in assists, while ranking third overall and first among defensemen in points. The 6-foor-1, 205-pounder was named to the CCHA All-Tournament Team and honored as the CCHA Gladiator® Defensive Player of the Week twice (Feb. 5 and Feb. 20). Moffie earned points in a career-high six consecutive games (3g, 6a) from Feb. 3 to Feb. 18.
Bennett earned the 'A' after a 21-point (4g, 17a) performance in 41 games as a sophomore. He ranked second among defensemen in points, assists and plus/minus rating (plus-16). Going 5-foor-11 and 185 pounds, Bennett set a new career high with three points (3a) on Oct. 13 vs. St. Lawrence and scored his first-career game-winning goal on Nov. 5 vs. Western Michigan.
