Maize and Blue coming home

The University of Michigan will welcome some important guests on to the ice at Yost Arena for the annual Summer Hockey Showcase on August 4.

The 2006 Summer Hockey Showcase will feature three separate contests at Yost. Alumni in the 35-50 age range will hit the ice first at 4:30 p.m. The 50-plus/celebrity game will begin at 5:30 and then the high point of the evening is the 7:00 face-off between the 1996 National Championship team and the recent graduates and other players under 35.

In addition to members of the NCAA title winning team, the Showcase will see other notables hitting the ice like head coach Red Berenson (above left), Andy Hilbert, Jed Ortmeyer and former Red Wing Dennis Hextall.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Yost box office beginning at 3:30 p.m. when the doors open. All proceeds will benefit the Michigan Hockey Scholarship Endowment Fund. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.
