Lake Superior dipped their toes into the CCHA regular season schedule with a two-game set against Notre Dame last Thursday and Friday in South Bend, identically falling in both games, 4-2.
Will Acton was the offensive catalyst for the Lakers in the two matches against the Fighting Irish, contributing four points, a goal and three assists.
Brian Mahoney-Wilson stopped all but four shots each night for Lake Superior, kicking aside 30 Notre Dame shots on Thursday night and 34 more on Friday.
The Lakers fell behind in each of the two games, but fought back in both as well.
On Thursday, Acton and Zach Trotman matched Notre Dame scores with goals of their own, assisting on each other's goals to pull the Lakers even on the scoreboard, 2-2.

Rick Schofield and Domenic Monardo supplied the scoring punch for the Lakers on Friday, each with help from Acton, but the result was identical to the previous night on the scoreboard.
The Lakers, now 0-2 early in the CCHA schedule, return home to Sault Ste. Marie this coming weekend to host a pair of non-conference games against Colgate of the ECAC.
