Lake Superior State found the offense on Friday night to get by Bowling Green, 4-2, but just couldn't find enough of the same in Saturday's rematch, losing a narrow 2-1 decision to the Falcons.
Kevin Kapalka backstopped both games for the Lakers and benefitted from staunch defensive play in front of him. Over the two road contests, Kapalka faced only a combined total of 42 shots.
Domenic Monardo had a goal in each of the two games. His tally late in the third period of the second match brought the Lakers within striking distance, but they couldn't muster the offense to tie it up in the third period.
Zach Trotman, Chad Nehring and Will Acton supplemented Monardo's effort in the series opener with a goal apiece.
The split leaves Lake Superior in ninth place in the CCHA looking up at Ohio State and Northern Michigan, both within striking distance of the Lakers.
