Michigan State won perhaps their biggest game of the year last Friday night in a 7-4 thumping of perennial power Miami, but couldn't sustain the momentum and suffered a shutout on Saturday night.
In the Friday night win at home, Drew Palmisano made 42 saves and five Spartans had multi-point games.
Dustin Gazley scored twice, Brett Perlini had a goal and two assists, captain Torey Krug added a pair of assists and Greg Wolfe and Kevin Walrod each recorded a goal and an assist.
Dean Chelios and Chris Forfar also scored for MSU.
Andy Miele scored twice for the RedHawks and Cody Reichard and Connor Knapp combined for 15 saves.
Saturday night, Miele and MU captain Carter Camper both had a goal and two assists in the RedHawks' 4-0 whitewash.
Palmisano finished with 43 saves, while at the other end, Knapp made 26 stops.
Michigan State (10-12-4, 6-10-2 CCHA) plays at Ferris State Thursday night and then against Michigan at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on Saturday night.
