Tech Gets Win at Home Away from Home

Michigan Tech has played two games in the last three years at their home away from home, the Resch Center in Green Bay. After tonights game, they are 1 and 1 in Green Bay.

MTU (3-17-1, 2-14) got their second win in the second semester of hockey, this one was a 6-2 win and it came at the hands of a CCHA opponent, Notre Dame.

Coming into the game, MTU was ranked 8th in the nation on the PP and they helped the cause, going 3 0f 5 with the extra man, while Notre Dame continued to struggle on their PP going 0 of 6.Tech started the scoring with a 5 v 5 goal in the first 4 minutes of the game. Wilson took a rebound from a Markham shot and put it in giving the huskies a 1-0 lead. ND scored with 5 minutes left ending the period at a 1-1 tie.

All year long, the second period has been the best scoring time for the Huskies, and tonight was no exception. Murphy got his first of three assists when he found Conner on the back door with a nice pass through two defenders. Murph's second assist came on a power play later in the same period when he shot from the point and Anderson found the rebound and went high on ND goalie for a PPG. The local kid, Ryan Markham, recorded his second point of the night and first goal of the year when he put in a rebound left in front of the ND goaltender.

In the third, Tech tallied two PPG to end all scoring and any ND come back. The first was from Anderson, his second of the night, and the second came in the last minute of play recorded by Schwartz.

The Huskies have won two of their last three games and will hit the road this weekend for a pair of contests against the fourth-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Mariucci Arena.
