Johnston commits to Spartans

Texarkana Bandits' defenseman Justin Johnston has committed to play for Michigan State starting this fall.

Johnston was the NAHL's fourth leading scorer among defenseman with 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points. The Livonia native played the past two seasons in the USHL and was not happy with the way he was developing.

"I believed in coach (Jon) Cooper and what he said he could deliver if I worked hard, so I made the jump to the NAHL," said the 19-year-old Johnston. "Now I will be playing at Michigan State next year and could not be happier."

Johnston is the sixth Bandit to commit to a Division I school this season.
