Warriors getting set for another battle

Sophomore Adam Krug leads the
Warriors into their eighth season of play

Wayne State has never shied away from an opponent and that philosophy will remain the same as the Warriors embark on a difficult schedule for the 2006-2007 season.

Four of their scheduled non-conference opponents are coming off 20+ win seasons and two teams, Minnesota (#3) and Cornell (#8), finished last season ranked in the top 10 of the final USCHO.com/CSTV Division I Men's hockey poll.

The Green and Gold will skate on the road at Minnesota, Western Michigan, Brown, Lake Superior, and Cornell. Warrior fans will also get to see home games against Sacred Heart, St. Lawrence, Western Michigan and Ferris State at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum.

The departure of Air Force to Atlantic Hockey will leave the CHA with just five teams for the upcoming season. The league The CHA will keep a 20-game conference schedule though and play two teams six times each and four games each against the other two opponents.

The Warriors will return with an experienced squad for next season, losing only four players (Matt Kelly-G, John May-F, Steve Kovalchik-D, and Greg Poupard-D) off a team that finished 6-23-6.

Sounds like a hell of a schedule. Wayne better get some defense and do they even have a back-up goalie yet?
