OU takes two OT wins from UM-Dearborn

Oakland University started the season strong this past weekend earning two overtime victories over CSCHL opponent University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Friday night was the home opener for the Grizzlies in a seesaw battle that saw five different Grizzlies net goals in a 7-6 overtime victory. Brent Cooper scored with only 42 seconds remaining to force overtime and then 30 seconds into overtime won it.

"I was ecstatic to see the guys battle like they did and not get down when Dearborn netted the goal with under two minutes remaining," Oakland head coach Sean Hogan said. "This kind of character will bode well as the season wears on."

On Saturday, the Grizzlies visited Dearborn in another barn-burner that turned out to be a 4-3 OT victory. Will McMahon and Cooper each scored two goals as Colin Chase turned aside 38 shots to earn his first collegiate victory.

Oakland travels to ACHA powerhouse Illinois to take on the Illini in a weekend series in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.
