Streaking Warriors grab honors

For the second week a row, the Wayne State Warriors have captured two College Hockey America awards.

Will Hooper (pictured) was named Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the 1-1 tie against Bemidji State on Saturday's Senior Night at the Coliseum in Detroit.

The senior goaltender made 27 saves including all 12 in the third period and five in overtime. Hooper is unbeaten in his last 3 starts, compiling a 2-0-1 record and .955 save percentage during that span.

Jeff Caister recorded a point in both games of the series against BSU and garnered Rookie of the Week honors.

The blueliner assisted on Friday's game-winning power-play goal and scored WSU's lone goal, also on the power-play, on Saturday.

Caister's award marks the third straight week that the Warriors have taken home Rookie of the Week honors. Forward Jared Katz picked up the previous two awards.

Wayne State closes out the regular season against Robert Morris at the Island Sports Center outside of Pittsburgh this weekend.
