Lerg among Academic All-District honorees

Michigan State sophomore goaltender Jeff Lerg has earned Second Team Academic All-District Honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Lerg, a Human Resource Management major, boasts a 3.68 cumulative grade-point average.

Lerg excels both on the ice and in the classroom, in addition to his involvement in the community. Lerg was perhaps at his best in the NCAA Tournament as he allowed just five goals in four tournament games (1.25 GAA, .954 sv%).

He was named NCAA Midwest Regional MVP and also to the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team. Lerg will be honored as the 2006-07 USA Hockey College Player of the Year in June.

Wayne State senior goalie Will Hooper, holder of a 3.92 GPA as an Accounting major, was named to the First Team. Lake Superior State senior netminder Jeff Jakaitis (3.47 GPA, Business) also earned Second Team honors.
