The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced Wednesday that Daultan Leveille of Michigan State has been named the CCHA Rookie of the Month for October.
Leveille leads MSU with three goals and five points in seven games, helping the Spartans to a 4-2-1 record. Two of his goals are game winners, which is half of the Michigan State total. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound forward finished the month with a +2 rating.
Leveille, a 2008 first-round NHL draft pick of Atlanta, started off his collegiate career with two assists, including a helper on the game-winning goal, in his debut against Massachusetts. The 18-year old forward scored his first goal in his second conference game, Oct. 25 vs. Northern Michigan and followed it up with his first career two-goal game on Oct. 31 vs. Western Michigan. Michigan State is undefeated when the St. Catharines, Ont., native registers a point. Leveille also had two power-play points in October.
Goaltender Scott Greenham of Alaska, goaltender Cody Reichard of Miami, forward Alex Hudson of Nebraska-Omaha, forward Billy Maday of Notre Dame, forward Zac Dalpe of Ohio State and forward Greg Squires of Western Michigan earned special mention for CCHA Rookie of the Month for October.
