MSU gets Salmon Arm commitment

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks of the British Columbia Hockey League announced that defenseman Matt Grassi has committed to Michigan State and will play for the Spartans next season.

Grassi is currently in his third season with the SilverBacks and his scholarship offer comes fresh off his silver medal performance with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Alberta. Grassi, a 19-year-old native of Burnaby, B.C., has grown into a solid two-way defenseman during his time in Salmon Arm.

In 21 games this season, Grassi has scored four times and added 20 assists for 24 points.

“Matt can play at both ends of the rink and knows how to use his strength and size," said Salmon Arm head coach and GM Rylan Ferster. "His play in the defensive zone is outstanding."
