WMU gets point against Nebraska-Omaha

By Matt Mackinder/Western Michigan Beat Writer

Western Michigan didn't leave the weekend empty-handed as the Broncos earned a point against Nebraska-Omaha with a tie and a loss at Lawson Ice Arena.

Friday night, Adam Flink (first NCAA goal) and Max Campbell scored for the 2-2 regulation tie and then the Mavericks won in a shootout.

"We did a tremendous job killing penalties," said WMU head coach Jim Culhane. "Specifically that 5-on-3 late in the game. (Goaltender) Jerry (Kuhn) was fantastic and the guys played hard."

Kuhn made 29 saves for the Broncos.

Last night, Derek Roehl and Ian Slater scored for Western Michigan and Kuhn finished with 19 saves, but UNO took a 5-2 decision.

The Broncos (1-6-3, 0-3-3-1 CCHA) will travel to Yost Arena to battle the Michigan Wolverines on Friday and then host Michigan on Saturday.
