The Lake Superior State Lakers tied the Wisconsin Badgers, 1-1, in the championship game of the Badger Showdown Sunday night, but lost the shootout, 1-0, to take second place in the tournament.
LSSU netminder Pat Inglis kept his team in the game, making 30 saves on the night. The only goal he gave up was the tying goal with under two minutes left in regulation.
Zac MacVoy put the Lakers up 1-0 late in the third with a goal assisted by Tyson Hobbins and Fred Cassiani. MacVoy would end the weekend with four points.
In the shootout, the Lakers hit the post twice and Troy Schwab's shot was stopped by UW goalie Shane Connelly, but it came loose and landed on the goal line. The goal was immediately waved off and no video review was utilized.

“They couldn’t review it because they turned (the replay) off after the five minutes of overtime,” LSSU head coach Jim Roque said to USCHO. “They never left it on for the shootout. That just tells you how it’s going for us this season.”
The Lakers (5-8-7) now have seven ties on the year, which equals LSSU's record for a season.
Their next series will be at Colgate on Jan. 8-9.
