The Central Collegiate Hockey Association today announced the 2009-10 Preseason All-Conference Team, as selected by the 12 head coaches.
Michigan junior forward Louie Caporusso and Miami junior forward Carter Camper were unanimously selected to the Preseason All-Conference First Team, each receiving the maximum 55 points. It is the first time on the Preseason All-Conference First Team for both players as Camper was selected to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team for 2008-09 and Caporusso did not receive any preseason honors entering his sophomore season.
The third forward on the Preseason All-Conference First Team is junior Mark Olver of Northern Michigan. Olver was a Preseason All-Conference Second Team selection in 2008-09 and was named to the CCHA All-Conference Second Team for 2008-09 as well. A pair of returning All-Americans headline the defense on the Preseason All-Conference First Team as Notre Dame junior Ian Cole (Ann Arbor) and Northern Michigan junior Erik Gustafsson each received eight first-team votes. A Wildcat occupies the goaltending position on the Preseason All-Conference First Team as well, with junior Brian Stewart (pictured) receiving five first-team votes.
Three members of defending CCHA champion Notre Dame were selected to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team. Junior Calle Ridderwall and sophomore Billy Maday are making their first appearence on the Preseason Conference All-Conference Team, while senior Kyle Lawson (New Hudson), the winner of the 2009 CCHA Best Defensive Defensman Award, was named to the 2008-09 Preseason All-Conference First Team.
John Albert of Ohio State rounds out the forwards on the Preseason All-Conference Second Team. Albert was the top vote-getter among players on the Preseason All-Conference Second Team with 37 points. Nebraska-Omaha senior defenseman Eddie DelGrosso is on the Preseason All-Conference Second Team after being named to the CCHA All-Conference Second Team for 2008-09. Michigan junior goaltender Bryan Hogan rounds out the Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
All told, six schools are represented on the Preseason All Conference Team, with Notre Dame leading the way with four honorees.
