The Lake Superior State Lakers (14-8-4, 9-7-2 CCHA) continued their best season in years by sweeping the turncoat Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks in a pair of games at the Taffy Abel Arena.
The Lakers fought back from an early hole on Friday night to grab a 1-0 over the Mavs.
Jeric Agosta put the visitors on board first at 9:37 of the first period.
Nick McParland tied it up at for the Lakers at 14:06 of the second and then with just a minute and a half left in the contest, Rick Schofield slapped one past UNO’s John Faulkner for the game-winner.
Brian Mahoney-Wilson stood on his head and stopped 37 shots for the victory.
Faulkner turned away 27 for UNO.
The Lakers needed an extra frame on Saturday, but still bested the Mavericks 5-4 in overtime.
Rick Schofield did it again, beating Jeremie Dupont for his second game-winner in as many nights.
Will Acton added a pair of goals and Zac MacVoy and Domenic Monardo also scored for the Lakers.
Matt Ambroz, JJ Koehler, Brandon Richardson, and Agosta turned on the light for Nebraska-Omaha.
Brian Mahoney-Wilson out did his previous effort by three, stopping 40 shots in the victory.
John Faulkner started in net for UNO, but took an early shower after giving up 3 goals in 5 shots.
Dupont played the final 53:17 and stopped 20 shots.
Since a six-game winless skid in late October into early November, LSSU has gone 10-2-3 and has leaped into fourth-place in the CCHA.
The Lakers will continue their four-game home stand with a pair of games against Norte Dame beginning this Friday night in the Sault.
