Spartans get tie versus Notre Dame

By Matt Mackinder/Michigan State Beat Writer

After losing on the road Friday night at Notre Dame, Michigan State rallied for a 4-4 tie last night back in East Lansing.

The Spartans also earned the extra point in the CCHA standings by winning the shootout last night.

Bobby Jarosz stopped 28 shots in regulation and all three Notre Dame attempts in the shootout.

MSU had four different goal scorers - Nick Sucharski, Daultan Leveille, Derek Grant and Brett Perlini - and Corey Tropp tallied three assists.

Sucharski missed the first game of the series after getting a game disqualification for spearing Jan. 9 versus Lake Superior State.

Friday night, the Irish scored five unanswered goals to take a 5-2 win in South Bend.

Perlini and Dean Chelios scored and Trevor Nill assisted on both.

Drew Palmisano made 34 saves before being yanked 8:57 into the third period for Jarosz, who made seven saves the rest of the way.

Michigan State (15-7-4, 10-4-4-1 CCHA) hosts Ohio State next weekend.
