Warriors swept at Quinnipiac

By Tom Balog / Wayne State Beat Writer

Eleven seconds did in the Wayne State Warriors on Friday afternoon as they fell, 2-1, to the Quinnipiac Bobcats at the TD Bank Sports Center.

Kelley Davies and Janine Duffy scored even strength markers at 4:05 and 4:16 of the second period and that was all the Bobcats needed.

Ciara Lee scored the lone marker for WSU, her first collegiate goal, at 7:09 of the third and Micheline Frappier provided the assist.

The Bobcats outshot the Warriors 44-16 to win for the first time in twelve all-time tries against WSU.

Delayne Brian stopped a career-high 42 shots for Wayne State.

Victoria Vigilanti was little tested in the QU net and stopped 15 shots.

The Bobcats outplayed the Warriors again on Saturday afternoon and recorded a 4-1 win to capture the series sweep.

Kallie Flor scored two goals to lead QU and Duffy and Kristen Eklund also scored as the Bobcats won for the fifth time in a row.

Vigilanti stopped 11 shots for the victory.

Brian made another 28 saves and Frappier scored Wayne State's only goal.

Wayne State (8-11-3, 4-4-0 CHA) will return home to the City Sports Center for Alumni Weekend and two-game set against CHA foe Syracuse beginning on Friday night.
