Wayne State captured two weekly awards from the CHA after last weekend’s split with Vermont at the City Sports Center.
Senior forward Katrina Protopapas was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring twice against the Catamounts. Protopapas leads the Warriors with a career-high nine goals and ranks second in the nation with eight power-play tallies.
Sophomore blueliner Jill Szandzik took home Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording a goal and two assists vs. UVM. Defensively, Szandzik helped shut down the Catamounts power-play, holding Vermont to one marker in 15 opportunities.
Wayne State (6-9-1, 2-4-0 CHA) will return to MoTown next weekend for a pair of key CHA conference games against the Robert Morris Colonials.
