USA Hockey announced Wednesday the first 16 players that will compete at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Championship in Kosice and Bratislava, Slovakia, and there are several Michigan connections.
Goaltender Al Montoya (Michigan) and defensemen Mike Komisarek (Michigan) made the initial roster, as did former Michigan forward Mike Brown.
This year's Hobey Baker Award winner Andy Miele, a Grosse Pointe native, will also play for Old Glory.
The tournament starts April 19 and runs through May 15.
