CCHA names Colvin to league staff

CCHA Press Release

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) today announced that Philip Colvin has joined the league’s staff in the capacity of Director of Communications & Events.

Colvin will coordinate all CCHA communications and publications and serve as primary contact for the league’s events, including the CCHA Awards and CCHA Championship.

"Phil brings a wealth of writing, administrative and interpersonal communication skills to the league, and his passion for the sport makes him a terrific addition to the conference staff as we prepare for the 2011-12 season and beyond," said CCHA Commissioner Fred Pletsch.

Colvin, a resident of Walled Lake, served as the Editor-in-Chief of Michigan Hockey (magazine) since 2002, where he directed coverage of the state’s youth, junior, college and professional teams. Before that he was the publication’s Managing Editor for three years and was also the Director of Public Relations for the USA Hockey-sanctioned NAHL from 1996-99.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to join the CCHA and work with some of the nation’s leading educational institutions," said Colvin. "As a lifelong player, current youth coach and fan of college hockey, I am looking forward to helping expand the league’s profile and promoting the member schools’ players, coaches and teams."

Colvin holds a BA in English from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Wayne State University.

Colvin and his wife Cindie have two daughters, Sophia and Avery.
