Warrior women drop two at Maine

The Wayne State women suffered two losses on the road at Maine last weekend, but made Sunday's contest close until falling in overtime.

Saturday, freshman Val Turcotte made 14 saves in net, but only junior Jessica Haydahl could beat Black Bears goalie Rachel Gettings.

Sunday afternoon, the Warriors led 2-1 after the first period and senior Kelly Zamora's power-play goal midway through the third period knotted the game at 3-all. But Danielle Tangredi put one past WSU senior goalie Tina Thibideau 98 seconds into the extra session.

Findlay transfer Laura Monk and senior co-captain Jessica Snelgrove scored for WSU in the opening stanza.

Wayne State (3-5-2) travels to St. Cloud State this weekend for games Friday and Saturday, both set for 3:05 p.m. puck drops.
