Fretter named CCHA Player of the Month

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced that junior forward Colton Fretter of Michigan State has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for November.

Fretter, a 22-year old kinesiology major from Harrow, Ont., fired four goals and added five assists while recording three multiple-point games in helping the Spartans to a 4-3-1 record during the month. The 2002 NHL draft pick of Atlanta leads the Spartans in scoring with an 8-7-15 chart in 13 games.

His eight goals have already exceeded his previous career high of seven goals, established last season, and he is also on track to substantially surpass the 22 points he registered as a freshman.

The 5-foot-9, 196-pound right-shot forward started the month by leading Michigan State to a home-and-home sweep of Ferris State. He picked up a pair of assists on Nov. 5th in a 4-2 home-ice win, and followed that up with a three-point performance, including two goals, in a 5-1 road win over the Bulldogs. Fretter struck for two more goals, including the game winner, and an assist this past Friday as the Spartans posted a 4-0 road win over (then) No. 2 Wisconsin.

Special mention for RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month honors goesto Northern Michigan junior forward Andrew Contois, Ohio State freshman forward Tom Fritsche and Western Michigan junior forward Brent Walton.
