Wayne State splits with Union

Wayne State took a series split for the seventh time this season with a loss and a win last weekend at home against Union College. Friday night, WSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but then allowed five unanswered goals in a 5-1 loss. Saturday afternoon, the Warriors rallied for a 4-3 decision.

Sophomores Jason Bloomingburg, with his second of the game, and Nate Higgins scored third-period goals Saturday to complete the comeback Saturday. Freshman Derek Bachynski scored the other goal for the Warriors (10-7-1), who with their tenth victory have already eclipsed last season's win total (9).

Sophomore Will Hooper made 32 saves for WSU.

The Warriors are idle for exams and the holidays (26 days total) before starting 2005 with a College Hockey America league series at Alabama-Huntsville on Jan. 7-8.
