Spartans tie Lake Superior State

Trent Campbell's goal late in the second period tied the game for Lake Superior State and the game ended in a 2-2 tie at Michigan State on Saturday night.

Ash Goldie and David Booth scored for MSU (13-11-2, 8-9-1 CCHA) while Matt Restoule added LSSU's other goal.

Jeff Jakaitis made 31 saves for the Lakers (7-13-4, 6-7-3 CCHA) while Dominic Vicari stopped 27 for the Spartans.

"It was a hard-fought game; Lake Superior played much better tonight," said Michigan State head coach Rick Comley. "We didn't look as sharp as we did last night and they played a style of hockey that matched their size advantage. Both goaltenders were also on top of their games."

Lake Superior travels to Alaska-Fairbanks this weekend while the Spartans play an exhibition game Friday night at Munn Ice Arena against the U.S. National Under-18 Team. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
